Abstract
The objective of this paper is to look squarely at the reality of today’s churches, which have dramatically ceased to grow recently and are facing a crisis, to analyze the causes thereof and to identify the remedies. Where, then, does the problem lie? This researcher would like to find the root of the problem in the failure of worship, which is the foundation of a Christian’s life of faith. Failure of worship means perfunctory and habitual worship, where there is no communion with God. No one can enter into a right relationship with God when communion with God fails during worship. The lost relationship with God thus started not only results in lost relationships with family and neighbors, not to mention an identity crisis in the believer herself, but also solidifies the church as an insular community isolated from the local community.
Based thereon, the view of this researcher is that in order for today’s Christians, who are suffering due to an identity crisis and lost relationships within an insular community where the relationship with God has been lost, to achieve a change in themselves, there is a desperate need for a return to true worship and pastoral consultation of caring and healing.
Through a series of transformational processes entailing a pastoral strategy of caring and healing, along with so-called return to worship, I believe that each believer can recover the lost relationships that had deviated from their churches and communities and live lives according to the Gospels in reality as well as in name, serving and spreading the Word as God’s workers that these times call for. Therefore, in this paper, this researcher will discuss in detail the entire transformative process of caring and healing, as well as the return to worship, through the pastoral strategy and its outlook modeled after the “Good Shepherd Korean Methodist Church,” where the researcher herself is engaged in ministry
